Interns & Missionaries
The Who, What, Where, When, Why and How of Interns or Missionaries!
Welcome to our Interns & Missionaries Page! We want to know all about you!
LONG TERM: We are actively seeking LONG TERM, bilingual interns or missionaries. Assignments run 3-12 months. College credit may be available.
SHORT TERM: Currently we also have some short term assignments (7-21 days) generally in home improvement, but street evangelism and feeding the poor can be included. Please contact us if your short term crew would like to provide hands and funds and we will work with you.
The basics about our church are that we’re at around 200 members, both ticos (Costa Ricans) and gringos (North Americans). With our bi-lingual pastor, we’ve enjoyed success in getting many integrated programs and events initiated. We’ve got a warm and inviting environment for spirit-filled worship!
We’re very active in community action, including various feeding projects, a robust backpack project outreach, building projects and educational programs. This year our theme is “Go for the Youth”, and we started the year with a two day outreach with the local elementary school. Over 400 kids came to the church over two days and learned team building exercises, plus explored such topics as bullying, acceptance and respect for others and other “golden rule” ideas. The teachers also came, and in a separate session learned some discipline techniques. The project was such a complete success that we are already planning the next one, starting with getting some financial sponsors from the business community.
Next we had a huge concert at the soccer field in Coco with a famous Costa Rican singer, Christian Tapon. The event was very successful with 1,600 in attendance and 50 kids coming to Christ. Follow up events including a beach bonfire and an ice cream social have also worked well.
Our Youth Group program, both for teens and separately for young adults, is in full swing. We will need some extra hands because we’ve now got their attention, and need to keep it fresh and enriching.
